What I have been watching, reading, and doing lately.

To say April has been a busy month for me is an absolute understatement. Everything has just been so quick and full on, I feel like having time to breathe is a bit of a luxury! Hence why Flourish & Blotting had to take a little bit of a back seat until it all calmed down. But here I am with a little bit of an update.

Jodi Picoult's Small Great Things  | I have had a slow start with reading this year but I have started to crack the spine of this book. So far so good.

The Assassination of Gianni Versace | I can’t say I was that impressed with this series. It was more the storyline and the lack of character depth that did it for me. I know if they were to delve into it much deeper and made more relatable victims the series would probably be twice as long as its eight parts.. but I really do think it is lacking.

The gruesomeness of the murders gave me nightmares too!

Marcella Season 1 | I am determined to persevere with this series. It hasn’t necessarily ticked any boxes for me yet but I am going to give it the benefit of the doubt, at least for a few more episodes atleast.

Friends | Obviously. I swear I can see myself watching all 10 series over and over again. I just love it. I find it so reassuring when it is on in the background. My recent obsession even led me to look up Hugsy (Joey’s cuddly penguin) to see if he was available to buy for Phoebe..

House buying & selling | The scariest of the scariest. The process is so arduous and stressful. I don’t know if it has been made worse by having Phoebe, but every time there was a viewing I was dashing around trying to stuff everything that was even remotely unsightly into any cupboard space I could find. Our house ‘sold’ pretty quickly but then ensues another truck load of problems; surveys, negotiating and chains.

Fortunately we found the house of our dreams pretty quickly. As expensive as it is, it will last and in the long term the monthly payments will eventually go down. As it stands we don’t really go out anymore, and we aren’t planning any holidays for the next couple of years until Phoebe is old enough to appreciate them (Walt Disney World) so, it kind of feels like the right time. It’s a new build which means we can move in with little to no decorating. I swore I would never touch a piece of wallpaper again but after seeing the ones on Sweet Pea Wall Design, I might be tempted to change my mind. Be prepared for my Instagram to become an interiors haven, or maybe not. I have been pinning like a crazy woman recently, and I am already planning a trip to Ikea.

Phoebe’s 1st Birthday | This was a very low key family event. I mean, why spend money on something you can get away with for another year?! It was nice though, a weekend filled with cake and chocolate. You can read all about it here.

Spring has sprung |For the most part we have been making the most of the lovely spring weather, well, you don’t know how long it will last do you? This is the UK after all! James only has one day off a week so we tend to try and get out of the house if at all possible. Whether that means a walk in the park or a bit of shopping. The time is nigh for a spring clean, I am hoping the potential move will give me a bit of motivation in that department.

What have you been up to?
Love, Jo
